The Process of Shadow Chrome Styling at Riverside Rims

1. Initial Inspection & Preparation

Every wheel is carefully inspected for damage such as kerb rash, corrosion, or chips. Any defects are noted before work begins.

2. Stripping the Old Finish

The existing paint, lacquer, or powder coat is fully removed. This ensures a clean base for the new finish and helps achieve a flawless result.

3. Repairing & Smoothing

We restore the wheel surface by welding, filling, and sanding where necessary. This step ensures a perfectly smooth foundation.

4. Priming the Wheel

A high-quality primer is applied to seal the alloy surface and create a strong bond for the following colour layers.

5. Base Coat Application

A reflective silver or chrome-like base coat is sprayed evenly. This undercoat is what gives Shadow Chrome its deep, metallic shine.

6. Shadow Tint Layer

A fine mist of dark transparent paint is carefully applied over the chrome base. The more layers, the darker the effect, allowing us to achieve anything from a light smoke effect to a deep gunmetal shadow.

7. Lacquering

A tough, high-gloss lacquer is applied to lock in the finish, protect the wheels, and bring out the depth of the Shadow Chrome effect.

8. Final Curing & Quality Check

The wheels are cured in our oven, hardened for durability, and checked against our quality standards before being refitted.
